The director will introduce our artwork on YouTube

Our museum director introduces “Japan’s World Heritage Sites,” a shibori-dyed work created by a Kyoto shibori artisan and on display until the end of this month.

This piece makes extensive use of dye-separation techniques, resulting in a distinctive sense of depth and three-dimensionality that differs from kanoko shibori, the style most closely associated with Kyoto’s shibori dyeing.

The video is approximately nine minutes long.

Please enjoy this exploration of Japan’s World Heritage Sites through the art of shibori dyeing.
