Hokusai Masterpieces in Kyoto Shibori

On display are two monumental Kicho (traditional Japanese partition curtains), each measuring 6.5 meters wide and 3 meters high.

These extraordinary works recreate Katsushika Hokusai's iconic masterpieces, The Great Wave off Kanagawa and Fine Wind, Clear Morning (Red Fuji), using the traditional techniques of Kyoto Kanoko Shibori, one of Japan's most refined textile arts.

Crafted from fine silk, each piece was created entirely by hand through more than 50 intricate processes. Together, the two works required over three years to complete, reflecting exceptional craftsmanship and dedication.

Experience these breathtaking large-scale masterpieces—an unforgettable fusion of Japanese art and traditional craftsmanship that can only be seen at the Kyoto Shibori Museum.
