Museum for all textile lovers
Notice of Temporary Closure
The museum will be temporarily closed due to floor renovation work on the first floor and the Obon holiday.
Closure Period
August 9 (Sun) – August 16 (Sun), 2026
We will reopen on Monday, August 17, 2026.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your kind understanding.
I want to convey the real charm...
Feel free to touch traditional crafts...
At the Kyoto Shibori Museum, members of the "Kyoto Koueikai" create and collect the shibori works for more than 80 years.
You can feel the enthusiasm of the craftsmen who create these works.
Today, we send Japanese shibori-dyeing to the world by providing works to museums overseas.
We want more people to deepen their understanding of the shibori through the work,
I hope you will make new discoveries at the Kyoto Shibori Museum.
Kenji Yoshioka, Director, Kyoto Shibori Craft Museum
