絞り染めの工程は全てが分業になります。たくさんの工程を経て一つの作品が出来上がります。
The shibori process is a separate division of labor. One work is completed through many processes.
まずは初めにデザインを紙の上に描き、どのように絞り、染めていくのか、また、その絞り技法でその部分の表現は可能なのかなどを、職人同士で考案していきます。
First of all, draw a design on paper and think about how to shibori and dye it. In addition, craftsmen will devise whether the shibori technique can express that part.
そして次は型紙を作り、アオバナなどを用いて生地の上に下画を刷り込んでいきます。絞り職人はこの下画をもとに生地を絞ったり、縫ったりします。
Next, we will make a pattern and stencil the draft on the fabric with aobana ink etc. Shibori craftsmen shibori and sew fabric based on this draft.
絞り作業に進む前に、間違いがないか、異なった生地の重なる部分の合い口がしっかりと揃っているか、念入りに確認します。
一度、絞り作業を始めると、もう後戻りはできません。地味な作業にはなりますが、何度も何度も確認、何度も人を替えて確認をします。
Before shibori proceeding, carefully check that there are no mistakes and that the overlapping areas of the different fabrics are tightly aligned.
Once you start tying, you can't go back. It's a trivial task, but check again and again
確認作業が終わると、糸入れ作業などを行い、いよいよ絞り作業が始まっていきます。まずは疋田絞りで大波の白い部分と空の上を括り(写真の赤い部分)、縫い締め絞りで船の部分（緑の部分）を括っていきます。
When the checking task is finished, the shibori work will finally begin. First, use the Hitta shibori to tie the white part of the big wave and the sky (The part surrounded by red), and the Nuishime shibori to tie the ship part (The part surrounded by green).
上の写真は疋田絞りと縫い締め絞りができた状態です。
The picture above shows the completed hitta shibori and nuishime shibori.
次は写真の赤で囲った部分の波のしぶき部分（白色）を小帽子絞り、中帽子絞りで括っていきます。
Next, we will tie the splashed part of the wave (the part surrounded by red in the photo below) with ko-boiushi shibori and chu-boushi shibori.
しっかりと防染をしないと、真っ白い波しぶきを表現することはできません。麻糸とビニールを使ってしっかりと生地を括ります。
Without proper dye-resisting, you can't express pure white wave splash.
Tie the fabric tightly with linen thread and vinyl sheet.
