Kyoto Shibori Museum is

the only museum in Japan that specializes in shibori

and conveys the technique of shibori to the present day.

Since the exhibition contents of the special exhibition are changed several times a year, you can see various masterpieces created by shibori.

Kyoto Shibori Museum is also a hands-on museum

where you can learn about shibori from various perspectives, such as the valuable videos and tools used in the shibori process, explanations by specialized staff,

and you can touch the shibori fabric .

With the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the announcement of a state of emergency, the first exhibitions of "Hokusai 46 Mt. Fuji Exhibition" and "Giant Kichō Kanagawa Okinami Ura" scheduled to be exhibited from February 2, 2021 will be postponed.

The Shibori Earth [ 2.5 m in diameter ]

Choju-jinbutsu-giga (the oldest 'manga cartoon' in Japan), dyed by the Japanese shibori technique on a 35-meter-long Tango silk crepe. 

More than ten different shibori techniques were used to create the shibori earth.

The blue ocean, coral reef, rainbow, airship, glacier, etc. are expressed on the earth of 2.5 m in diameter.
